So far, my groups’ creative process has been going well. Being that we all have the similar visions for how we want our project to look, it has been easy collective the images and footage. One big milestone that we have accomplished is getting the right amount of people that we wanted to interview. This worked out well because, though it was hard getting people to agree o be on camera, everyone we spoke with had great answers to each question. Another milestone we were able to overcome is obtaining some decent b-roll shots from our cellphones. At first it was difficult with trying to find proper lighting and having the sots come out the way we wanted, but for them most part, I am happy wit our results.

The digital tools learned in class have been a tremendous help in having my group’s creative process come to life. For one, understanding something as simple as how to hold the camera in order to fill the screen was helpful because we would start off shooting vertically and then what was taught would come to mind, so we’d end up flipping the camera the correct way. Another thing that has helped was learning how to use iMovie and the ways in which to add effects, such as transitions and better lighting to our videos to make it more appealing to watch. We will be adding background music to our video as well, which we learned how to do in class.

Final Project Progression

Storyboarding

Image

Creating a storyboard was harder than I expected it to be; yet it was fun. We were all able to bounce our own ideas off of one another in order to create an idea of how we wanted our video to look. The creative process started off with each of us giving input on how we imagined the two-minute video going individually, and then we collaborated with certain aspects. I personal started off with a rough idea on how the opening should start off and we took it form there. I also found Google Docs to be exceptionally helpful in the process being that ideas would randomly pop up and instead of having to wait to see each other, we were able to quickly jot it down within the document with the entire members. I enjoyed the creative aspect of it, but trying to clearly explain my vision was a bit difficult.

Creative Direction For Final Project

Image

I personally see the creative direction of this video being mostly about the students in the program. I would there to be a focus on the wide age range of those who are in the living community being that it is open to students from freshman year through senior year. I think that emphasizing that fact will lure more freshmen in because it gives them a sense of befriending people who are older for guidance through their fist year of college. I would also want the storyboard to reflect the images of Rosalind Franklin for new comers to capture a small essence of what the building looks like. As well as show some images of the Busch campus. Hopefully, the two minute video will show the living learning community for women in stem as being a fun place to meet others who have the same interest, while still having a serious undertone being that it is a field of study that affect many lives

I truly enjoyed your project, because for one, it’s about your favorite music albums and I always can appreciate learning about music that other people enjoy listening to being that it gives others a tiny glimpse into who they are as a person. This is what I feel gives your project an intimate and personal touch. Your taste is extremely eclectic as well, seeing that you included iconic artists such as Nas and The Beatles, which comes as a pleasant surprise.  I can also appreciate the fact that you wanted to explain your interpretation of some of your favorite songs is also and interesting component to explaining your preferences in music. However, trying to read some of your words were a bit difficult due to the coloring of some letters and size. Visually, it is exciting to look at and try to understand because there are many images. I truly enjoyed your project!

I really adored both the visual and literary aspect of your project. Even though your project is digital, it is reminiscent of a book and or magazine, which creates a very pleasurable juxtaposition. The visual aspect of your work is truly compelling and eye-catching because of the bright colors and attention grabbing pictures you used with out its being too much for your audience to take in. I can also appreciate the story behind your literary work, which is about the vivid dreams that you have. Each dream you wrote about was intriguing in its own way and well written, with a poetic twist. One of my favorite entries from your dream diary was ‘Just Hit Him’ because it was extremely intense, and the detailed image for that piece was equally thought provoking. The imaginings you recollected and described were inherently different than the other, while still holding a common thread of the portrayals in your dream-like experiences. I truly enjoyed your work!

Final Project: You’re the Perfect Verse Over a Hip-Hop Beat

The images in my video are clips that have been randomly recorded on my phone over time of intimate moments between my boyfriend and me. I  used lyrics from some of my favorite Neo-Soul songs, such as “Love of My Life” by Erykah Badu and “Come Close,” sung by Common. To contrast the”mushy” lyrics, the entire video plays to the intro of a hardcore rap song by Jay-Z called ‘Crown.” Being that I have never used iMovie before, I decided that it would be a good idea to teach myself how to use this editing software through the creation of this project. It’s a fun and light-hearted video, so I hope you enjoy!
